In this paper the quality of the higher education in Colombia measured through ECAES of Economy of 2004 is analyzed. A multilevel analysis was made with data of 2377 students and 59 located programs of Economy in 52 universities around the country. One determined that significant differences between the average result of the universities and the ones obtained by the students are explained by the characteristics associated to the students and by the characteristics of the institution they belong to.
