Este estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar la relación entre el desarrollo financiero (medido en términos de la evolución de las instituciones financieras) y el PIB per cápita en Brasil (una medida representativa del ingreso promedio de la población brasileña). El método más adecuado para la operacionalización de los datos fue el modelo de Retrasos Distribuidos Autoregresivos (ARDL). Se identificó una relación a largo plazo entre las variables del modelo a través de la confirmación de cointegración. Específicamente, a largo plazo, todas las variables demostraron significancia estadística. El acceso a las instituciones financieras devolvió un valor negativo; sin embargo, las variables de profundidad financiera y eficiencia de las instituciones financieras estuvieron positivamente relacionadas. A corto plazo, solo la variable de profundidad financiera mostró significancia estadística, pero con un signo opuesto al encontrado a largo plazo. En resumen, los hallazgos subrayan la importancia del desarrollo financiero en la promoción del ingreso promedio de la población brasileña.

Es profesor titular de la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais y profesor visitante de la University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden - Alemania desde 2002. Realizó su posdoctorado en Gestión de Empresas de Base Tecnológica - sector de biotecnología por la Universidad de Harvard en Cambridge - EE.UU. (2001/2002), doctorado en Competitividad Empresarial - Aston University en Birmingham - Reino Unido (1996), maestría en Administración por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (1984). Posee un grado en Ingeniería Mecánica por la Universidad Federal Fluminense (1977), y un grado en Administración por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (1983). Ha enseñado, investigado y dirigido a alumnos de cursos de grado, especialización, maestría y doctorado en la UFMG desde 1985. Imparte materias en el área de gestión y finanzas en la Facultad de Administración y Ciencias Económicas sobre temas como: emprendimiento social y financiero, innovación tecnológica y social, inversión, cálculo financiero, gestión de empresas de bionegocios, microfinanzas, microcrédito, sostenibilidad. Coordina trabajos en el área de Administración, actuando principalmente en los siguientes temas: Competitividad, Emprendimiento y capital riesgo, Rendimiento, Gestión de empresas de biotecnología, Inversión, Gobernanza corporativa, y Gestión de proyectos de responsabilidad e inclusión social. Coordina proyectos de Intercambio Internacional con universidades de varios países: Alemania, Argentina, EE.UU., Finlandia, México.

Bruno Perez Ferreira, Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais

Tiene una licenciatura en Administración Pública por la Fundación João Pinheiro (2002), una licenciatura en Matemáticas por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (2000), una maestría en Finanzas por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (2006), una maestría en Economía de la Salud y Farmacoeconomía por la Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2007) y un doctorado en Administración por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (2011). Actualmente es profesor asociado de la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais. Tiene experiencia en el área de Administración, con énfasis en Finanzas, actuando principalmente en los siguientes temas: inversión, finanzas públicas, rendición de cuentas, presupuesto público y accountability.
