This paper looks at the behavior of labor demand for the Metropolitan Area of Cali. The period of analysis is 1995-2001. Data are taken from the Manufacturing Annual Survey of DANE for 17 sectors (3 digits CIIU). Amodel of fixed effects in Panel Data is used to determine the structure of labor demand in terms of the wage elasticity and the output elasticity. The model yields that the structure of labor demand is highly consistent with the hypotheses of a negative wage elasticity and a positive output elasticity.
